Golden sets along Clear Creek on the edge of the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Golden was founded during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush on Jun 16^th,1859. Named after Thomas L. Golden the City’s original name was Golden City. As Golden City it served as the capital of the Territory of Jefferson from 1860 to 1861.
